ISIS and Moazzam Begg: Was There a Connection?

(This is an edited extract from this essay)

Mr. Moazzam Begg, the cause celebre of the so-called ‘British Muslim’ community because of his cruel and inhumane detention at the hands of the United States government in Guantanamo Bay is also one of the founders and directors Cage International, a human rights advocacy organisation. In an interview with Dilly Hussain, an editor of the British Muslim website, 5 Pillars on its official podcast “Blood Brothers”, Begg shared his thoughts about the regime change war on Syria in the 2010s and in doing so, he opined on the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) regime change war in Libya in 2011. Begg himself establishes there is a link between the western backed Libyan and Syrian regime change wars. As he says:

“Interestingly many of the people who had started the revolution in Libya and taken part in it militarily had some experience actually went on to set up and support some of the first resistance movements in Syria. So these very Libyans had gone from Libya and joined and fought…with this Free Syrian Army.”

Anyone paying attention to the 2010s regime change wars should immediately note there is nothing interesting or remarkable about this. To express it bluntly, it was simply a case of NATO moving its unofficial foot soldiers or Muslim mercenaries from one arena of conflict to another to implement pro-western regime change. Concealing Truth: The NATO Regime Change that Unites 5Pillars, Cage UK and the Zionist Douglas Murray

Nay! We hurl Truth against falsehood, so that it smashes its head, and lo it vanishes; and woe to you for what you describe.” Qur’an 21:18

The genteel rantings of right-wing author Douglas Murray with regard to the presence of immigrants, their descendants and the increasing visibility of the Islamic religion in the West have achieved wide currency and established him as one of the leading international celebrity intellectuals for every shade of western white supremacist and bigot. Of course, the essence of his rantings is far from novel. No informed person living in the West could be so removed to note that Murray’s central thesis is an extrapolation of the proposition, that a specific minority population poses a threat to a given western nation. Therefore, the solution is, said minority needs to be challenged, confronted, presence curtailed in the given nation if the West is to survive!

Murray’s fulminations culminated in his bestselling book, The Strange Death of Europe: Immigration, Identity and Islam.  According to Murray, the principal driving force behind the ‘strange death of Europe’ is the policy of the German state during the leadership of Angela Merkal to allow migrants fleeing war into the European Union. Specifically, Merkal’s announcement in late August 2015 to allow a million refugees from war torn Syria and elsewhere into Europe proved to be the turning point and the bullhorn for all and sundry from the Global South to charge forth towards the European continent. Hence, the one way flow of migrants will, lo and behold, lead to Europe’s ‘strange death’.

Adrift at Sea

Yet even before August 2015, Murray acknowledges that more people were landing on the Italian island of Lampedusa in the Mediterranean on their way to Europe because in “part this was because of the number of people fleeing changes of government and civil unrest.” He then alludes to another issue and observes the “first year of the Arab Spring was an especially bad time for the island.” The ‘Arab Spring’ in the 2010s witnessed the revolutions in Tunisia and Egypt. In 2011, NATO at the behest of then British leader David Cameron and French leader Nicolas Sarkozi assisted supposed ‘moderate rebels’ in Libya to overthrow not only the then Ghadhaffi government but literally destroy the Libyan state. It is no surprise then to non-ideological people that according to Murray in 2014, “…the year before the migrant crises ‘began’ – 170,000 people arrived [in Lampedusa, Malta or Sicily]. Officials talk of solving the problem by filling Libya’s recent government vacuum”. As expected Murray doesn’t discuss how “Libya’s recent government vacuum” arose. This is understandable as Murray has written a book endorsing neo-conservate military interventionism, the ideology which underpinned the wars on Afghanistan and Iraq. It is simply not in his interest to state the obvious, that a foreign policy he had advocated – regime change – resulted in the beginning of the migration crisis across the Mediterranean Sea and into Europe. As George Orwell would say, the NATO Libyan military intervention is ‘memory-holed’, that is not spoken of anymore and especially the migratory consequences of that specific intervention.

Unsurprisingly Murray isn’t the only one to ignore, conceal the truth or memory hole the British led campaign for the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation’s (NATO) regime change war on Libya in 2011. Others who have de-emphasised or totally ignored the consequences of the Libya NATO military intervention are ironically on the face of it, those who claim to oppose Murray such as the British Muslim news website, 5Pillars which is a “Muslim community media platform” that “concentrates on British Muslim news but also looks to the wider Islamic world” and the Cage advocacy group which is an “organisation that aspires to a just world”.

Netanyahu in Congress: Was he Right to Invoke Winston Churchill?

Almost ten months into the world’s first ever livestreamed genocide in Gaza, Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu addressed a joint meeting of the United States’s Congress. In a speech predictably fawned over by the elected representatives of the United States, the Zionist leader aptly invoked the British Empire’s war time leader, Winston Churchill. Towards the end of his warmongering diatribe, Netanyahu appealed to the United States to continue showering the British-conceived, Zionist colonial-settler regime with more weapons to slaughter Palestinians.

On Genocide ‘Israel’, Minister Louis Farrakhan was ahead of his time

During the current genocide in the Gaza Strip of Palestine, Zionists are employing the same card and the same canard to deflect attention away from their war crimes. Specifically any criticism of their Zionist colonial-settler project and its attendant genocide is motivated by, in the words of President Joe Biden, an “ancient hatred”, that is anti-semitism – an irrational contempt of the Jewish people and their faith. The accusation has plagued most people who have made the mildest criticisms of the British initiated, Zionist colonial-project in Palestine known as “Israel” since the colonial entity was founded.

Many decades ago, specifically in the 1980s, the African-American leader, Minister Louis Farrakhan of the Nation of Islam (NOI) was continuously harangued as an “anti-semite” by American Zionists when he referred to the actions of the Israeli government against the indigenous population of Palestine as a “gutter religion”.

Does Jess Phillips Perform a Sociopathic “Some of My Best Friends are Black” on the Gaza Genocide?

The Labour pro-Zionist politician, Ms Jess Phillips clung on to her seat in Birmingham Yardley by the tip of her finger tips in the July 2024 UK general election. Her tally was just 700 votes more than her rival, the Workers Party of Britain’s Jody McIntyre. This result was a far cry from her winning margin in the last general election in 2019 of more than 13,000 votes. Naturally in the immediate aftermath of her victory she turned on her adversaries supporters. In her palliate victory speech, Phillips implies that her detractors find it hard to deal to deal with a strong woman. Phillips seems to be hard pressed to understand that McIntryre and admittedly some of his passionate supporters were spurred to enter the election race after seeing the Labour Party leader, Sir Keir Starmer glowingly and cruelly endorse the genocide in Gaza, Palestine in October 2023.

Live on camera, the now victorious British leader, Starmer had endorsed the Zionist army cutting off electricity and water. Furthermore, in the same month he denounced calls for a ceasefire as playing into the hands of HAMAS. More so, it is not lost on many people that Phillips had spent the Jeremy Corbyn years, that is, the years when Corbyn led the Labour Party between 2015 and 2020, undermining his leadership in cahoots with other establishment politicians and also the mainstream media. At one stage she boasted that she blasted one of Corbyn’s long time loyalists, the most racially maligned politician in the UK, Diane Abbott to “f*ck off”. As such, she further cemented her role as a leading darling of the Westminster elite when she claimed she would solemnly “knife” [Jeremy Corbyn] “in the front”.

The genocide in Gaza has now claimed the lives of tens of thousands lives and visited total destruction on the Gaza strip. Continue reading
